YES! Prince George: Bringing Community Together

The Youth Employment Summit (YES!) in Prince George brought together youth job seekers, community organizations, and educators for an afternoon focused on career exploration, connection, and opportunity. Delivered in collaboration with AiMHi, the event created a welcoming and engaging space where youth could discover pathways to employment, education, mentorship, and community support.

Throughout the summit, delegates had the opportunity to visit interactive exhibitor stations, participate in breakout sessions, and connect directly with organizations and professionals from a variety of sectors. From skilled trades and employment supports to mentorship and post-secondary pathways, the event highlighted the many possibilities available to young people as they began exploring their futures.

One of the most impactful parts of the day was hearing directly from youth participants about what the experience meant to them.

“I enjoyed it here and liked it here. I learned ideas for what I want to do as a job.”
Josh, Delegate

The summit emphasized creating inclusive, accessible opportunities for all youth to ask questions, participate in activities, and build confidence as they explore careers that align with their interests and strengths.

Exhibitors also reflected on the value of bringing resources and support together in one space.

“It was great, having a safe space for people in the community to gather resources is so valuable.”
Foundry, Exhibitor

Breakout sessions focused on mentorship, skilled trades, employment programs, and real-world career exploration. Delegates were encouraged to think about their goals and learn about the supports available to help them move toward meaningful employment.

Events like the Youth Employment Summit also highlight the critical importance of funding youth employment services and community-based support. Programs that provide career exploration, mentorship, skill development, and employment connections can have a lasting impact on a young person’s confidence, independence, and future opportunities. Investment in youth employment initiatives helps remove barriers, create pathways to inclusion, and ensures young people have access to the resources and relationships needed to succeed.

By bringing together community organizations, educators, and youth-serving agencies, the summits demonstrate the power of collaboration in creating inclusive opportunities for the next generation. These events help spark conversations, build confidence, strengthen community connections, and open doors to future possibilities for youth in communities across British Columbia.

A huge thank you goes out to all exhibitors, partners, volunteers, and delegates who helped make the Youth Employment Summit in Prince George such a success.

Stay tuned for our next YES! Stops, we may be coming to a community near you!
