Community Inclusion Advocacy Program

The Advocacy Line is your direct line to advocacy support when and where you need it.

Advocating With You

Inclusion BC’s Advocacy Team supports people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families overcome barriers to inclusive access in their communities.

It’s a free service, available to everyone, of any age, living in British Columbia who is experiencing roadblocks to inclusion. The team gives you the tools, information, and advice you need to effectively advocate for person-centred, rights-based, and collaborative solutions for yourself, or someone you love.

The Advocacy Team helps you on these topics:

  • Early childhood services and supports
  • Kindergarten to Grade 12 education
  • Services from the Ministry of Children and Family Development
  • Housing services and support
  • Community inclusion supports
  • Health and mental health supports
  • Post-secondary education
  • Employment supports
  • Adult services, including services from Community Living BC and help transitioning from youth to adult services]

Our approach to advocacy is guided by the United Nations Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities, which recognizes the full citizenship and human rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Kerridan Dougan, Advocate
