Now Available: Free Online Course – Building an Inclusive BC: The History of Disability Rights

We’re excited to share a new free, self-paced online course developed in partnership with the BC CEO Network : Building an Inclusive BC: The History of Disability Rights.

This 8-module course offers an eye-opening journey through BC’s disability rights history—from the rise and fall of institutions to the powerful emergence of family and self-advocacy movements. It also highlights the experiences of Indigenous Peoples, the evolution of service delivery, and key legal decisions that have shaped provincial and national policy.

Each module includes reflective activities and a knowledge check to support meaningful learning. Whether you’re a service provider, advocate, policymaker, or community member, this course is for anyone who wants to better support people with intellectual disabilities.

Course Details:

  • Self-paced over one month
  • 1–2 hours/week
  • Certificate of completion provided
  • Space for 200 learners/month for the next four years
