MentorAbility – Inspiring and Impactful

MentorAbility – Inspiring and Impactful

Inclusion BC has created a new film to highlight the value of mentorship from both the mentee and mentor perspectives. This film is a powerful reminder of the positive outcomes of these connections. Virtual mentorships, in particular, offer the flexibility to bring together people from diverse communities, breaking down geographical barriers and fostering inclusive relationships.

MentorAbility is a trailblazing national initiative founded on the principles of supported employment, aimed at promoting the recruitment, employment, and retention of people experiencing disability. By fostering meaningful connections through mentorship, this initiative not only opens doors to employment opportunities but also celebrates the profound impact of these experiences on both mentors and mentees.

The cornerstone of MentorAbility’s approach lies in its dedication to creating and nurturing unique, short-term mentoring opportunities. These engagements, range from one hour to one day, and are designed to facilitate direct interaction between employers and people with disabilities. Through these interactions, mentors provide invaluable insights, guidance, and encouragement, while mentees gain firsthand exposure to various career paths and workplace environments.
