UN International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD)
Who: Inclusion BC Foundation & BC Self-Advocacy Foundation present a festival programmed and hosted by people with intellectual disabilities.
Why: The movement from segregation towards full inclusion of people with disabilities is an essential part of Canada’s coming-of-age story. Join us in Canada’s 150th year as we explore how the portrayal of disability in Canadian film has reflected our evolution from exclusion to disability pride over 60 years, and how the disability rights movement relates to Canada’s broader transformation towards a more just and inclusive society for all.

About #IDPD2017: In 1992, the United Nations proclaimed the annual observance of IDPD to increase awareness and promote the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities in all spheres of society and development. The theme for 2017 is “Transformation towards a sustainable and resilient society for all.”
When: December 3, 2017, 7 pm

Where: Anvil Centre Theatre, 777 Columbia St, New Westminster (A fully accessible venue)

P.S. Please also join us at 6 pm on Dec. 3 for the closing reception of our art exhibition, Big House: Selections from “From the Inside/OUT!” 1998, currently running in the Anvil Centre’s Community Art Space.
