Conversations in Kamloops

Exciting news! The final engagement report for Kamloops and surrounding communities is available!

The report is entitled Community, Conversation and Connection: Kamloops and Surrounding Communities. It reflects the hopes, dreams and aspirations of local families, young people and community service providers seeking a better network of services and supports for children and youth with disabilities in their communities.

We are grateful to our local partners Children’s Therapy and Family Resource Centre, Kamloops Aboriginal Friendship Society, Lii Michif Otipemisiwak Family and Community Services, Parent Support Services Society of BC, Pivot Point Family Growth Centre, and School District no. 73. Together, we designed a thoughtful, community-centred, inclusive, culturally safe, and accessible approach to engagement.

By January 2025, we’ll have shared reports from 23 B.C. communities, with the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD). Our hope is that these reports:

  • Serve as a catalyst for change empowering communities across B.C. to enhance local networks of support for children and youth with disabilities or support needs.
  • Inform the transformation of Children and Youth with Support Needs (CYSN) services in B.C.
