Conversations in the West Coast Communities of Vancouver Island
Exciting news! The final engagement reports for the West Coast Communities of Vancouver Island will be available soon!
Entitled Community, Conversation and Connection, these reports reflect the hopes, dreams and aspirations of local families, young people and community service providers seeking a better network of services and supports for children and youth with disabilities in their communities.
Guided by a local team, we took a unique approach to connecting with people living in communities on the West Coast of Vancouver Island. We worked with a facilitator who has established connections and relationships in the area.
We are grateful to everyone who spoke to our local facilitator. All conversations were designed to be thoughtful, community-centred, inclusive, culturally safe, and accessible.
Very soon, we’ll be sharing here the final reports for the communities of:
- Ahousaht
- Hitacu
- Opitsaht
- Tofino and Ucluelet
- Ty-Histanis & Esowista
By January 2025, we’ll have shared reports from 23 B.C. communities, with the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD). Our hope is that these reports:
- Serve as a catalyst for change empowering communities across B.C. to enhance local networks of support for children and youth with disabilities or support needs.
- Inform the transformation of Children and Youth with Support Needs (CYSN) services in B.C.
How you can help
