Connected Communities: Sky’s Story

In the disability community, stories of loneliness are all too common—but this isn’t one of them. Walk down Commercial Drive in Vancouver with Sky, and you won’t get far before someone stops to chat or calls his name from across a busy street. At 6’5”, he’s hard to miss, but it’s his infectious energy and knack for bringing people together that have earned him the title of “East Van celebrity.”  From community bike shops to record stores and tattoo parlours, Sky is the thread that weaves different subcultures into a vibrant, connected community.
