Brent Tolmie has deep ties with the community living movement in British Columbia. His family has been involved with the Chilliwack Society for Community Living since the late 1950’s. His grandparents were pioneering members, fighting for a better way for their daughter. Brent served as a board member with the society for 8 years, with the last 6 years as board president. Past board presidents from the Tolmie family include Brent’s grandmother Ines, father Mike, and mother Helen. Brent also worked in a group home during university, working the sleepover shift.
Brent has deeply held beliefs that all people offer immense value to their community and that great communities recognize and embrace diversity and varying abilities. Brent is keenly aware that the best community living organizations focus on providing unique and innovative individualized supports that enhance quality of life and educate and support communities.
Brent is a long-time resident of the Fraser Valley and has 4 children; Moses, Grace, Isaiah, and Annabelle. He operates a business that is focused in heavy civil construction, forestry, and development. Brent has a Master of Business in Administration (MBA) from Royal Roads University, is Prosci Certified in Change Management, and holds the Project Management Professional (PMP) designation.
