JOB DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Communications Manager is responsible for supporting Inclusion BC’s mission and vision through developing, planning and implementing strategies that support the strategic plan and is consistent with our key messages.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Communications strategic planning

  • Manage communications strategies for Inclusion BC in collaboration with the Executive Director
  • In collaboration with Program Directors, provide advice and help implement communications strategies for Inclusion BC programs

Implementation – print and online communications

  • Manage content on website, social media, press releases, reports, etc.
  • Manage relationships with associated vendors
  • Lead the generation of online content that engages audience segments and leads to measurable action
  • Create or oversee creation of all print and multimedia materials, based on the marketing and communications plan

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • three to seven years’ experience in communications, marketing, public relations or external affairs;
  • superior writing and editing ability across a variety of formats and lengths, and an ability to communicate complex information in an accessible and compelling manner;
  • strong understanding of social justice issues and a thorough knowledge of the issues affecting marginalized groups, including people with intellectual disabilities;
  • extraordinary attention to detail, including ability to proof-read and edit;
  • demonstrated experience in planning, writing, editing, and producing e-newsletters, annual reports, marketing literature, and other print publications;
  • proficiency with WordPress, social media and MailChimp;
  • familiarity with Adobe Suite programs (Acrobat, Indesign, Photoshop);
  • superior interpersonal skills in building relationships with colleagues, partners, agencies and stakeholders from a range of sectors and cultures;
  • demonstrated strategic planning experience and success in engaging online audiences;
  • project management skills: in particular the ability manage multiple complex projects in a rapidly changing environment;
  • experience working with creative professionals (graphic designers, filmmakers, web developers) to produce a final product; and
  • English language fluency.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The Director of Communications is a 35 hours per week position within a strong value-based organizational culture. This position requires a high level of team collaboration, yet also requires significant autonomy and flexibility.

Compensation

$45,000 – $55,000 annual salary
