Clothes Drop Manager

Inclusion BC is a provincial non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the participation of people with intellectual disabilities in all aspects of community life. We promote inclusion, drive policy change and provide advocacy support to individuals and families. Our work benefits the community in general, but specifically improves the lives and experiences of our three major stakeholders: people with intellectual disabilities, their families and our member organizations.

Inclusion BC is a federation of members. We have 70 member organizations that provide services to people with intellectual disabilities. Inclusion BC recently expanded membership to include individuals, families and affiliates. We are currently exploring the creation of regional family networks that would also have voting rights within the federation.

Together with our members we make up the largest single social service sector in the province and together with our members we are growing a franchise that promotes inclusion and improves the environment.

Who We Are Looking For

Clothes Drop is a clothes collection franchise in partnership with Value Village. The Clothes Drop Manager is responsible for stewarding the development of the Clothes Drop franchise using a Business Growth Strategy has been developed with 5 key priorities.

Clothes Drop is a competitive business in a dynamic market. While it may provide other benefits resulting from its operation, it is a business first and foremost and all decisions are made based on maximizing net revenue to Inclusion BC and our member partners.

While clothing and used goods collection is normally done by member partners, Inclusion BC may also collect clothing and used goods.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Clothes Drop Franchisee Relations and Business Growth:
  • Provide leadership, information and guidance to our franchisee as they bring on, develop and grow their clothes collection enterprises
  • Set targets that incentivize franchisees to grow their businesses
  • Achieve growth and revenue targets for Inclusion BC
  • Ensure quality assurance and that franchisees are compliant with the Franchise Agreements
  • Develop avenues for franchisees to share and collaborate with each other
  • Work with franchisees to assist them to grow, diversify and maximize their operations
  • Assist franchisees to access business tools and practices that support their operations
  • Develop community partnerships that further the development of both franchisee opportunities and Inclusion BC Foundation
  • Develop and maintain open communications with franchisees
  • Expedite issues and opportunities as they develop

Communications and Marketing

  • Work with Communications and Marketing partners to develop marketing and communications strategies and tools that promote the Clothes Drop operation with existing and potential individual donors and community, corporate and municipal partners in a way that grows the capacity of the program to collect used goods
  • Ensure that communication materials are on brand and follow graphic standards
  • Assist in developing communications strategies
  • Capitalize on opportunities to grow the profile of Clothes Drop, in partnership with our franchisees as well as on a provincial level
  • Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders and key community members that are advantageous to Clothes Drop
  • Align marketing with current trends in this sector as well as the environmental aspects of Clothes Drop

Clothes Drop Systems

  • Working with the Director of Finance, ensure that information is tracked
  • and reported
  • Provide analysis for the Management Committee regarding financial
  • and operational developments
  • Assist in developing financial projections and planning in order to
  • maximize profit margins and operational efficiency
  • Ensure that Clothes Drop information is accessible and up to date

Value Village

  • Participate in the negotiations with Value Village and the contracting process
  • Develop comprehensive background information and analysis that supports Clothes Drop to maximize our business position both in the present and future
  • Maintain good working relationships with Value Village representatives at a store, local and regional level to ensure that issues are expedited
  • Seek out new opportunities for Clothes drop to increase supply of goods to Value Village stores

Research and Development

  • Ensure that current and best practices are part of the operations and planning for Clothes Drop
  • Develop or access learning opportunities for Clothes Drop and our franchisees that add value to the operations at all levels
  • Gather information on best and better practice in the area of retail and wholesale in this industry
  • Keep abreast of and advance new approaches and ways of doing business

Skills and Competencies

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous retail and/or franchise experience
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills including the ability to manage a variety of relationships both within Clothes Drop and with other stakeholders
  • Experience with business operations
  • Highly developed analytical and planning skills
  • An undergraduate degree in business or a related field or equivalent. At least 3 years of experience supporting the development and delivery of a business enterprise

Working Conditions

This is a fulltime position within a strong organizational culture. The position requires a high level of team and stakeholder collaboration.

The position reports to the Executive Director, Inclusion BC Foundation,
and works under the overarching mandate established and monitored
by the Clothes Drop Management Committee.

Salary Range

$60,000 - $65,000 plus a comprehensive benefits package, and potential for bonuses based on performance.
