Disability Pride

“One thing that we could do is that we could all invite one friend from outside of the community to come and join us, and widen that conversation and build those bridges.”

-Annette Delaplace, President, Inclusion BC Foundation

This year Inclusion BC will present the first ever Disability Pride celebration and parade in British Columbia as part of Canada 150+. We are proud to lead the country in advancing a new culture of pride, strength and freedom for people with intellectual disabilities in Canada.

On June 15th, 2017 thousands will come together to celebrate the pride we have for Canadian citizens of all abilities. Self-advocacy, family and youth groups, Indigenous, multi-cultural and community living organizations, various social movements and dignitaries will take the disability identity to the streets of Richmond, BC parading to a location where we’ll host a huge pancake breakfast.

Along with this major event, we will be giving grants to individuals, families, and community organizations to participate in existing celebrations, parades and marches around the province throughout this sesquicentennial year.
