About the Workshop: Customized Employment (CE) is a unique supported employment process designed to personalize the employment relationship between a job seeker and an employer in a way that meets the needs of both. CE can be effective when serving individuals that may present with more complex needs. In this course, students will be introduced to the five essential components of CE; Discovery, Job Search Planning, Job Development and Negotiation and Post-Placement Support. Through lecture, dialogue, sharing and interactive sessions with one another and potential employer's, students will develop a range of competencies within these components that enable them, in collaboration with the job seeker, to find meaningful paid employment in the community. The student is encouraged to work through the activities with a specific client in mind.

About the Instructor: Annette Borrows has been serving people with disabilities towards employment for the past 20 years. Working together with Fraser Health, the Province (EPPD), CLBC and the Federal government has allowed Annette to gain knowledge in a variety of methods of supported employment, contracting processes and accreditation requirements. Annette's teaching style is down to earth, filled with success stories, exercises that take you into the business community, practical tools to glean important information from the people you are serving and a realistic, successful approach to the world of employment counseling.

Registration Deadline: November 24, 2017
